Porcelain Dolls from Petticoat Lane
THE SEWING ROOM and WORKSHOP
I enjoy sewing a great deal and to me, it's an important part of the doll making process. Handsewing has become something of a lost art and even though I grew up in a sewing family, my skills were definitely put to the test when I began making dolls.
Making reproduction dolls brought a whole new area of sewing...the area of research. I like to try to dress my reproductions in as authentic a manner as possible which means matching the era of the doll with the correct style of clothing, and with the proper fabrics, trims, and accessories. Fortunately, there are plenty of terrific pattern companies that make patterns for antique doll clothing.
