Jules Nicholas Steiner,
Paris, 1855-91. Dolls by Steiner are found in many styles including the beautiful Bourgoin and "C" series. Being an experimenter, he produced a mechanism to open and close the eyes by means of a lever placed behind the doll's left ear. He produced mechanical dolls such as the "kicking" doll, and dolls with double rows of teeth.

The beautiful A.T.s created by Andre Florent Thuillier in the mid 1870s are among my favorites. Their delicate painting and skillful molding are of exquisite quality. The antiques are scarce and expensive.
